Off Day, My Topic of Choice

And that topic... is USC.

Graduation is Friday. If you're a Mark Prior fan you can see him in person (as I have on campus from time to time) as he graduates with his class in the Business School. Just don't bother the poor guy. Congrats Mark!

Congratulations are also directed towards the women's water polo team that won the NCAA Championship on Sunday, beating LMU 10-8 and finishing with a perfect 29-0 record. That means USC has won its 4th National Championship this year.

Onward to USC Baseball. It's been a disappointing season, and I don't want to get into it right now other than to take a look at two of my favorite players in Michael Friedman and super frosh Ian Kennedy.

2-0/3 SV
2.17 ERA
22APP/2 GS
29.0 IP
.198 BAA

Ian Kennedy:
6-2/1 SV
2.58 ERA
13APP/12 GS
73.1 IP
.238 BAA

These guys are basically USC's only successful pitchers at this point in the season. The best ERA by a regular player outside of these two is Clayton Wentworth's 4.72. The next best ERA is 5.18 and the rest of the players are walking over a cliff. Sigh.

I hadn't noticed until now, but football backup QB turned starting third baseman Billy Hart is now the team's best hitter (what!). He trails Jeff Clement by just a fraction in slugging (.537 to .556) and is second to Cyle Hankerd in OBP (.443 to .454).
